On Saturday, June 8, Pohick Bay Regional Park will once again be under attack! Be on hand for this fun annual event as pirate’s storm the beach at Pohick Bay, on their way to Pirate’s Cove Waterpark in Lorton!
The day begins at 10 a.m. with the opening of Pirate Camp and a dusk treasure hunt throughout the park.
The School for Scallywags opens at the Marina at 11 a.m. Then, all hands on deck as a pirate battle ensues! A scuffle at the marina will ensue, completing at Pirate’s Cove Waterpark (from 2 to 4 p.m.). The day will conclude with a variety of children’s activities and living history! It’s a day of great food, great fun, and so much more! Ahoy!
All Pirate related events are free throughout the day! Regular admission prices to the Waterpark will apply.
Pirate’s Cove Waterpark contains a pirate-themed play feature with a giant dumping barrel, two kid-friendly slides and water spraying palm trees. A tot pool features a clam shell slide, spraying jets and crab and fish tiles throughout. In and around the pool area, giant fiberglass pirates and large parchment signs adorn the deck and provide stories and information about the real golden age of piracy. One of the most popular features is Buccaneer Beach, where young scallywags can dig for buried coins and redeem their findings for eye patches, plastic swords and other treasures.
Celebrate Pirate Day, every year in mid-June!
